My old Apple fell apart recently which was a shame because my Adobe CS3 was on it. I never used the whole CS3 package but I loved having so much power to do what I wanted rather than be restricted as with some photo manipulation packages. And no way am I paying monthly for a piece of software, which is what Adobe want you to do, so I stopped using Adobe altogether. Not having that software was depressing. What I loved about Photoshop CS3 most of all was was the layering process which makes graphic design a joy. Having used a version of Adobe Elements before (NAF) I stupidly thought that there would be no way that the layering software would be included in Version 14.
It's there along with pretty much everything I loved about CS3 and it's much easier to use that in CS3. This is not just a crappy photo tart up package. They've upped the product and crashed the price. This is a fantastic package for a fantastic price. The moment it arrived I made a nativity picture with all my grandchildren and Shaun the sheep.
I'm thrilled to be able to do that kind of stuff again. It's the best thirty four quid I think I've ever spent. Did it make my Christmas? Yes probably. But don't tell Adobe or they'll stick it on the Cloud and charge monthly. Only three stars since having a new computer with windows 10 kept fully up to date the product kept failing to load. Eventually, after much research on the internet, I got it to load using windows in safe mode.
However it loaded with a number of errors which have yet to manifest themselves while using the product - I'm waiting!! This is the first time I have had this much trouble loading software and having paid £44 for the privilege to say that I am not impressed is an understatement.
This past fall Adobe released a new version of their consumer-level photo organizing and editing application, Photoshop Elements 14.A mature and uniquely user-friendly application, the latest.
Follow up on 15 April - it appears that I have the organiser but not the editor! Having upgraded to the Creator's Update of Windows 10 I'll give it another go. In the meantime thank goodness for Gimp 2.8 for my editing needs! Further follow up on 2 May. Still didn't load properly after update of windows 10 so I have given up. Thank you to Amazon and Silicon Alley for prompt action in dealing with my return - much appreciated. I got this for my husband who does all our photo editing and correction, He is an Adobe Photoshop Expert and uses the full Photoshop program through his work.
He tells me that the full Photoshop program is a behemoth that can do almost anything with any image. This program works perfectly on a Mac, installation is simple from the enclosed disk, an internet connection is only required for registration of the product. The program includes all that a medium to high end home user would need, an organiser function, quick edit (if your in a rush or have limited experience of programs like this) and a full edit. With face recognition and camera shake removal the program is a thing of beauty, the price isn't too bad either. Having worked with Photoshop over the years I have managed to work out various ways to achieve many of the effects included with this version of Photoshop Elements. But for anyone new to image editing or the keen photographer who just wants to achieve a quick result, then Photoshop Elements 14 will not disappoint. The more advanced user may want to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CC for more complicated photo editing.
Pros: Easy to use from a beginners point of view Create great effects from within the Guided Edit mode Organiser for quick access to collections of photos Fun to use Very fast importing of Media Cons: Slideshow in the Organiser lacks full user control The Extract object can be difficult to use, but good results can be obtained with practice. I tend to regularly update my copies of Adobe Photoshop Elements (image editing) every year, although I now only buy this Photoshop Elements software bundled in with Adobe Premiere Elements rather than the Photoshop only version offered here, as this adds in powerful video editing as well.
All cameras and smartphones/tablets add in hi-quality video recording, so the ability to easily edit, combine and export video as well as photos is just as essential these days. Plus the alternative bundle often costs little more than buying this Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 on it its own, so you can get Premiere Elements 14 virtually for free.
Both the Adobe Elements 14 video and photo editors are unified on installation, offering the same Guided Help, Quick or Expert Editors and the Organizer, and both programs are accessed through the Elements 14 start splash screen. All Adobe licences, Elements included, generously allow for two installs on separate PCs, i.e. One copy at work and one at home or one on the desktop PC and one on the laptop (only proviso is that you only ever use one copy at a time). To uninstall an Adobe application these days you must 'deactivate' the licence first which is done under Help, Sign Out in the top Expert Edit menu - this is important as otherwise your licence will still be active on the old PC and the new install elsewhere will not register (do this if you are reformatting the system drive or you will lose a licence otherwise – although Adobe support can restore it apparently). Adobe Photoshop Elements 14, like its predecessors, is a great (5 stars) photo/image editing package for home users and serious photographers on a budget. However for those upgrading from previous Photoshop Elements versions it’s always likely you’ll not really notice any of the new additions as the core photo editing is pretty much the same as with the earlier versions 11 to 13 (and Adobe’s tinkering with the interface & menu layout with each new version can annoy).
Still with v14 we now get dehaze (reduces atmospheric haze), camera shake reduction (not that effective, and most cameras have great anti-shake built in to the lenses), improved guided edit, and the photo organizer has improved facial recognition in the ‘People, Places, Events’ sorting - but generally not much extra for tempting experienced Photoshop Elements 12/13 users to upgrade. Adobe Photoshop Elements 14.
Upgraded to V 14 from V11, The organizer crashes frequently, I have done all I can to Optimize and repair numerous times, Deleting just one image will send the organizer into a non responsive mode having to use taskmaster to end task. Doing a keyword search will freeze and goes in non responsive mode, hard to believe that anyone can sell software like this and get away with it. It just does not do what it says it does. A pity as I have done a lot of work tagging and organizing my images over the past 12 months. I will go back to using the Canon software and use Windows to organize instead. Its very frustrating and I have persevered over many months, my PC is i7 with 8gb and high quality graphics card. The Elements editor is OK but I recommend anyone with a cheaper PC to avoid using the organizer.
Trying to get any help from the seller Adobe is like getting water out of a stone. Downloaded the trial first to make sure that it works with the current Mac OS which it does much better than 13 did. So far very pleased, I particularly like the rain, snow.summer effects. One thing I did this time was to pay the extra for the full version rather than another upgrade, I removed all traces of previous versions including the organisers before installing 14. This does seem to have made a difference to installing and given a smoother user experience. The full version seems well worth the small premium over the upgrade. The picture is a composite made with 14 and given the summer effect. Recommended upgrade.
